I don't know if handling primers, lead projectiles & powder would be a good idea in the room I sleep in. I'm also a bit worried about the carpet generating static electricity while I'm touching primers. Any thoughts would be welcome. I'm on my phone so sorry if this is one big and annoying paragraph
If you're concerned about lead, you can use plated bullets and lead free primers.
(read up on http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/tag/ddnp/ if you intend to go down the lead-free primer path).

I'd still try to find a place for the press in the garage though...

The biggest lead hazard from reloading is handling used primers and dealing with the dust from fired cases. Primers (unless you deal only with corrosive or "green" ones) contain Lead Styphnate. That's why you should always empty out your vibratory tumbler outdoors, use dryer sheets to trap the dust, dispose of them properly and wash your hands after all reloading sessions.

Handling lead bullets or even casting lead poses a very small hazard unless you are powderizing the lead somehow and ingesting it.

A cannister vacuum works well for picking up powder. Don't use a floor vacuum unless you don't mind having a stray primer go off.

I've never had a primer go off while loading, but if it does happen, I'd much rather have it happen in the garage than in the house.

I used to reload on a computer desk. I mount my Lee turret on a piece of wood and clamp it to my desk. I have limited space so this is the best way for me. Works well.

I load in my living room which has short carpet. We get dry santa ana winds as well. No problems with static or primers. If the air is dry i touch the press before messing with primers to try and dissipate static. I rarely notice it though. It beats loading in the storage room next to my garage. Ill try to post a pic when i get back to my computer.

Moisture in the garage would be my concern in the less-than-hot months.
That was dumb of me but I was tired typing this up haha. I counted the garage as "outdoors" for some reason. Ours is insulated but no A/C in here
I will be loading 500 count of lead .38spl bullets. I originally wanted to use a B&D workmate but if we end up freeing space in the garage, it would be better to build an actual work bench so there can also be a spot for a vise(need that for my AR-15 build). Just thought of the idea of a very small bench to fit the press & some other tools in my room the other day. Would be pretty cool & convenient.

Garage is the only way to go! Given you have one of course. If not, maybe office or den area. Spare bedroom?

Worst case, look into a mobile set up. Some guys even build it into their hallway closets.

Haha yup there's a garage here. 3 car garage with the 3rd spot taken up by an infestation of junk! It's the reason my family doesn't have a work bench.

Time for some Spring cleaning Javi! Make some room for yourself in the garage and don't look back. I'm rubbing elbows with my pool table sometimes in the garage, but it's the quietest space in the house.

                  Good luck buddy!

I have one of those Black&Decker fold-up workbenches and a separate piece of wood that clamps to it, my press and powder measure are attached to that. If Im not decapping or cleaning and its hot out, I sometimes bring the whole thing into the livingroom and watch a game in the A/C. When cleaning or de-priming, I prefer not to do that indoors because of the stray spent primers and junk in the casings

I would not use the same surface for my scale and powder measure as my press.

The vibration of the press has the potential to give inconsistent powder throws.
I will share my opinion and my load data, BUT I am just a guy with too many cigars and too many guns. Whatever I say is probably wrong.

Extremely stable, dont have vibration from my single stage, but with both those factors, I re-weigh every 5 rounds anyway

Here is a picture of my bench. It's about 8 foot long with casters on it. It allows me to wheel it where ever I want. It is in my garage (holy **** it gets hot sometimes ) and the only thing I do outside is pour lead and tumble brass. Plenty sturdy. Below is all my ammo I reloaded. It has 500 45acp , 500 38spl, 1500 223, 1200 5.45x39, 1000 7.62x39, 400 12ga.

This is the setup in my bachelor pad. I have a shelving unit that matches the bench that went on the wall above when the PO had it. It now sits on my bedroom floor as a short bookcase style piece of furniture that holds loaded ammo and components. I tumble outside in the storage room next to the garage. I also cast bullets, trim, and sometimes size on the single stage out there. I put a small AC unit out there, but the room floods when it rains, and it is very dirty. I am very happy with moving the reloading stuff to the living room.

Ill snap a pic of my 30" reloading bench tomorrow. Need to clear it up a bit.

I reload in a walk in closet, works just fine.
