    WWB seems dirty

I shot around 400 rounds yesterday in a USPSA class and halfway through the front sight was covered with soot. When I cleaned the gun it was as dirty as I have seen it, more so than after the same amount of Federal rounds or handloads. Is it my imagination or is Winchester White box dirty for off the shelf ammo?

I should also mention I had to failures to eject which is not normal. Otherwise it seemed fine and is relatively inexpensive at Walmart.

That's weird, personally that's all I shoot for 45acp and it works flawlessly for me. I don't think it's any dirtier than my reloads.

WWB is the dirtiest factory ammo I've ever shot. I never paid that much attention to it because I was much younger (14+ yr olds), but now that I reload, I realize how dirty it was. I'll shoot 500+ rounds through one gun of reloads and ONE box of WWB and the gun 10x dirtier. It has always worked flawless for me, but is very dirtttttyyy.
It's ok to be jealous. We understand your animosity. We live the life you wish you had. And of over 4000 universities and over 1700 division 1 schools, only one is simply known as "The U"

Buy cheap, get cheap.. it's not going to be loaded with Vittavourhi and Sierras.. Winchester is going to use whatever non canister powder available for the velocity they want and whatever the cheapest jacketed bullet they can use.. There is a reason for it's cheapness..

If you don't like it, buy something more expensive or load your own using canister grade powders that are known to be cleaner/less sooty.

I don't get this obsession with finding the "cleanest ammo"... I shoot a LOT, some loads are clean, some aren't.. cleanliness is the least of my worries.. I want it to be accurate and function my firearm.. I can always clean the gun later..

It goes deeper than simply having to clean the guns later.
Dirty ammo can effect function in many types of firearms. For the casual shooter that shoots off 100 or 200 rounds on Sat, dirty ammo works fine.

For someone in battle or a tactical pistol course that doesn't want to or can't take the time to clean their firearm, cleanliness does matter.

I choose to load my own ammo with very clean powders. I sometimes go thousands of rounds in some of my firearms without having to clean them. I couldn't do this when I shot factory.

I do not like WWB. The only time my stock Glock ever had a FTE was with WWB. Don't use it anymore.

I have yet to shoot clean ammo. They all seem to shoot pretty dirty, even reloads with VV and clays powder.

I shot some friends old shotgun reloads and it the gun jammed in 8 shots from all the soot. Looked pretty cool though, almost like a black powder gun.

WWB is like a good woman, cheap and dirty.

Dirty ammo is good. You should find the dirties ammo you can, and shoot as much as possible without cleaning your guns, it will show you really quick which are good fighting guns, and which are better left in the safe.

WWB is super dirty. I didn't realize that until I started shooting my own reloads
