Hey guys,
I've been reloading for about 3-4 years now on my Lee Classic Turret press, and it gets the job done, but I cna only do so much. Fastest I've gone with some .45 ACP ammo once the cases were all prepped was 50 rounds in 18 minutes. Not terrible with a turret press with the auto indexer taken off. But not good enough.
It's time to dive into the progressive world. And I know nothing.
I've been looking at Dillon and RCBS loaders. From the guys who have experience with this stuff, what am I getting myself into here? A press is going to be $400-$600 in my range, but then the added accessories and blah blah blah.....I know it's gonna add up. Further, I am reloading right now for 6 different calibers! Realistically, I only need to reload bulk for 3, MAYBE 4. The other 2 or 3 I can continue in my current press because I dont shoot as much of those. My lee kit changes out super easily...just throw in the new die holder and new shell holder and bam, caliber changed! But is it that simple with a progressive? What I dont want to have to do is reset all the dies and powder measures for every caliber change.....that takes as long as reloading the slow way! (no progressive).
I guess I just need some guidance, pointers and advice. I remember diving into reloading and found out pretty quickly what works and what doesnt. Basically with any kit, you tend to replace most of the stuff that it comes with for specific things that will speed up or accurize loading. I dont want to have to go through that routine again.
