    RCBS Customer Service

The decapping pin on my 38 Auto RCBS die broke the other day while reloading some 38 super which was a bummer but thankfully I still have some loaded. I called up RCBS and spoke with someone at Customer Service and he apologized and asked for my name and address and then said I should receive a new one in a couple days. I was expecting to have to buy a new one but I was pleasantly surprised that they covered it. I would not hesitate to buy RCBS dies in the future, just thought I would share my experience with them.

I sure hope that translates up a little in value.

My RCBS 1010 arrived new with a defect (a long time ago now). The blade on the beam's pivot was chipped and burred, I decided to stone it off myself and it seemed to work OK. The other day, my super/duper/high tech digital balance decided to show its true self and quit working well, so I dropped back to old reliable, my RCBS 1010.

I was looking closely at it after I got it all setup and was checking it and realized the pivot side that had the chip, was also slightly bent causing the beam to ride a little off center. It didn't seem to affect the accuracy, but being the anal type I decided to straighten the pivot, bad decision. It is cast and broke off at the slightest nudge to straighten it.

I called RCBS and they said they didn't sell the beam separately, but the whole unit was calibrated and a seperate beam wouldn't work. I was a little put off by this as I think I understand the various interactions on the design and could "calibrate" it myself by getting the weight in the pan right.

I sent the 1010 in for warranty repair Tuesday, here's hoping they can hook me up, although this is a lesson learned. If something comes from any of the big reloading equipment makers, I am sending it right back, no more "fixing it myself".

*** A quick update, I just got an email from RCBS, my new 1010 scale went out today. This is a $150 scale that I broke! In the letter I told them that I broke the pivot. They still replaced it free of charge, great customer care.

I bought a rcbs powder check die and a standard bench mount primmer tool used on EBAY, the die was missing one rod, indicator , centering cup and small foot, and the primmer tool had a badly worn lrg primmer pin, Called CS and told them what i needed and they would not take my money. In my hands 3 days later.

They now have all my reloading needs.

I've contacted RCBS about 10 times over the past 30 years regarding replacement parts and assistance. I've never had a bad experience with these people.

That is good to hear because a lot of companies will tell you too bad since you messed with it. Guess that is part if why they are still in business after all these years. I was surprised they are still in CA and when I told the rep he laughed and said "they haven't kicked us out yet."

I think all major reloading component companies are that great. I once emailed Hornady telling them I was interested on buying a new plastic resevoir tube for my Hornady powder dispenser. Mine was badly discolored dark from leaving powder siting in it to long. They wrote me back asking for my mailing address. A week later, "two"new tubes showed up free of charge. It was my laziness that damaged them in the first place and they covered it. Kudos to all the great firearms related companies who take care of there customers!!!

I called them up a few days ago about ordering the newer version of the handle they put on the Rock Chucker that has the ball on it instead of the old style "bicycle grip" that my 1974 version came with. Told the nice guy on the phone what I wanted and he said " sure, what's your name and address?". Gave it to him and he said OK, I'll have it shipped to you. I asked him how much and he replied, no charge. Received it today. Nice.

They have always taken care of me, and I put additional value in their products because their service is fantastic.

RCBS... if you read this... Keep up the good work!

                          +1 for RCBS...great customer service.

Bought a new .40 S&W die set last year. When I went to resize my brass with the sizer/decapper die, noticed no resistance. Heck, I could place a fired case into the die by hand...so loose. Did an I.D. measurement and found that the carbide insert was about .010' too big.

Called them up and they asked me to mail it in and within about a week, got a new one; works like a boss!

I will continue to buy their products since they're lifetime warranted. Also, they're a California based company+++ (Orroville)

Wish I had that kind of luck. Called RCBS asking how much for a new priming arm assembly and a new primer cup for my Rock Chucker when they broke (yes, my fault). Both times, the girl told me to buy the part from Midway since it would be cheaper than buying from them. I don't bother calling them when something breaks anymore. I just go online to Midway and buy the broken piece or a whole nother die, press, etc.

Btw, Lee and Hornady replaced broken parts, no questions.

You must have called too early in the morning before the CSR had their coffee.
