Redline Ammo

I bought 500 rnds of reloads from redline ammo at the last Vallejo Gun show..only because the other ammo vender's computer was down.


I know there is another show coming up so I just wanted to warn you guys.

Don't buy this crap

the rounds felt oily to the touch, ran dirty and the Brass melted.

I've never seen brass melting how big of an issue is this? My wife got hit a 3 times by the brass which was flying randomly and got some bad burns since the brass was unusually hot.

I left a message with the contact phone number for redline ammo but I'm not expecting a call back.

Is this ammo safe to use?

I shot through maybe 150rnds before we cut the range trip short. in that time I had a failure to go into battery and the slide caught a brass on it's way out and actually tore the brass since it was so hot and soft.

I have about 200 rds left from a 1k purchase and have had exactly 1 fail to feed issue on my cheap Hi-Point C9, it was the 4th rd ever fired from that gun, had zero issues since then on my Glock 34 and C9.

Wow, melted brass, I can't even imagine how that looks, would you mind taking pics? Would love to see them.

Yea I saved 2 of the melted ones to take pic's of I'll post them up tonight when I get home.

For comparison I had about 75 rnds of Bullet Man's reloads left over and I tried those to make sure it wasn't my gun ..and those ran just fine.

Ok so maybe it wasn't really melting but it was getting hot enough to where it was easy to bend/deform the brass

I'm really not sure what they use I thought it would be whatever is normally used in fmj reloads? (lead?)

The photo looks like it had maybe a light charge and the slide closed on the brass.. I've had handloads do that to me when either the gun was dirty or the case didn't have quite enough powder to cycle.

Hot brass can be caused by using a powder with a high nitro content, with titegroup being a typical offender.. I stopped using the stuff since the gun would get very hot after a stage...

The gun was squeaky clean..low charge makes sense since the problems I had were ftf

Also I wasn't sure if I was crazy or not but it felt like it was really low speed..I could see the bullet's fly through the air I just thought it was the perfect lighting conditions but I didn't see anyone else's bullet's mid flight. (fast shiny blur flying through the air)

If you can see them thats slow in my book, it could probably be caused by such a low charge that they were slow and didnt cause the slide to cycle all of the way therefore squeezing the necks of the cases like that? Just a guess

well they called me back and asked me to send the pictures over..lets see what they do.

They say..its impossible that their ammo is bad..it has to be my gun..even though I shot reloads from bullet man just fine.

I asked if they would be open to do an exchange if i showed up at the gun show this weekend and he (dennis) said he would be so that he can prove to me its not his ammo

I would like to add that I had to call them back...they saw my e-mail and just dismissed it and seemed like they weren't planning on calling me back.

f*ck em they're making it seem like they're doing me a favor even though it sounds like the exchange isn't guaranteed.

Do you have the ability to pull a bullet, weigh the powder, and ask them what type of powder they use if you can.

how was the recoil, I ask because the slide shouldent be able to crush a case that hard. Im thinking that the slide flew back hit the back of the frame and bounced off and came forward so fast it crushed the case

how many shots does your recoil spring have on it

the recoil felt inconsistent defiantly not near +p levels but above say pmc bronze.

I'll check the head stamp and the recoil spring has about 800-900 rounds on it along with the rest of the gun.

I bought from them for the same reason as you. Tried their .45 ACP before & I did notice that their ammo runs dirty. Got the 9mm this last time reluctantly only cause I was running low. Couldn't get a straight answer on the FPS so I only use those rounds for "plinking"
