    Which scale?

I've been using my cousin's RCBS 750 scale and it works great. I've read the Dillon is suppose to be better/best. But I've also read some horror stories about it. I know there's bad apples in every bunch, but I've also read their warranty isn't the best with the scale. So which would you go with....

    Thanks

I use the Dillon terminator mostly. But I also have the RCBS Chargemaster and a RCBS 10-10. Yes I voted other.

I use and like this one with my single stage press. I weigh each load for my .308 and hunting loads. I only use it to set-up and verify other loads.

I had a Lyman scale (This one) that I thought was horrible and dangerous. A friend had the same Lyman scale and found the same thing. We both threw them out.

I use a RCBS Chargemaster combo, a Denver Instruments 123 (better than any balance marketed to reloaders) and a Dillion analog balance. When using any electronic balance, there are some precautions that one should take to keep the balance reading properly. First, always usee a battery or a UPS to minimize power fluctuations which can cause false reads. Second, never use an electronic balance near florecent lighting, radios, strereos, phones, cel phones, elctronic musical instruments, speakers or elctric motors of any kind. These have all been known to cause electronic balances to give false reads. Finally, ALWAYS warm up your elctronic balance for a few hours or days before you use it. The reads will fluctuate while the balance is warming up.

              Try this :

Allendale, MI, 10-10-2024 - Scales Plus acquires assets of Old Will Knott Scales as Old Will Knott Scales shutters operations. Read the news.

Basically, what is the heaviest thing you wan to weigh and how precise do you need it ?

              For reloading, most of the digital scales are 50 g with a 0.01 resolution. ( 700+ gr @ 0.1 res )

This fits the bill. And at $ 30.90, well priced.

Just doesn't matter, as long as you get a unit you like. Any scale over $50 is more than adequate and, unless you go to real analytical balance. Look at the warranty.

I hated my RCBS 750 used it for 50 rounds and returned it. it's biggest issue is it would have varying numbers

I made 10, 50 and 100 gn control waits and verified them on 2 different scales in my
bio chemistry class that are accurate to a hundredth of a grain

when I placed a weight on the 750 removed it then placed the same weight on I would get different results up to half a grain
I will share my opinion and my load data, BUT I am just a guy with too many cigars and too many guns. Whatever I say is probably wrong.

Ya I've read that a few times about the rcbs. It seems to be a 4/5 star product. I guess my cousin just got a good one. Hmmm maybe I'll just stick with Dillon

                      Denver Instruments 123.

Or if you are on more of a budget, it's tough to go wrong with the GemPro 250.

Either of these will blow any digital scale marketed to reloaders out of the water.

I use the Dillon beam scale (Ohaus pattern) and the digital scale from Brian Enos as a back-up, and to verify accuracy of the Dillon.

Jennings Mack 20 with AC adapter (about $70) from Old Willknott Scales or Gemini 20 from Amazon (under $50). Both trickle like a dream, and have a resolution of 0.02 grains instead of the typical 0.10 grains. No drift (unless outdoors), settle quickly, never have found a discrepant reading when checked against my 10-10 beam.
