    Imperial Sizing Wax

    Does anyone use this stuff?

I am going to start doing some .308 neck sizing only and wanted to find something that was easy to apply inside/outside of the case neck...

Would just slightly dipping the case neck into the wax work, or do I really have to apply it with my fingers?

For full length resizing, do you apply it to each case manually with fingers?

It is the best sizing lube I have ever used. I apply it to each case by hand. Get your index, middle, and thumb wet with the lube and spin the case between those three finger tips. Wipe your middle finger across the wax every other case to apply more. I use redding type S bushing dies so I never lube the inside of the neck.

If I am going to use it for .223 I need to find a good way to process it all in bulk... I was considering just using the RCBS Lube die after I run out of Hornady One shot just for my .223s

.308 is going on a single stage, I dont mind doing each case by hand.

Do I need to lube the inside of the case necks on .308? I have been getting away with not doing it for my .223 ammo. Sometimes I get a little "chatter" on the rams up stroke, but ive never really had any problems.

If you are doing bulk loading, use Dillon resizing spray. It's just lanolin dissolved into an alcohol base. It works great. Spritz it on the cases in a pan or box, mixing the cases and spritzing again, then let the alcohol dry off(about three minutes) and start sizing.

The Imperial wax is good for small jobs when using a single stage press.

You can lube the inside of case necks if needed, but my .223 or 308 Win. cases don't need to be inside the neck lubed. My 270 Win. cases gall heavily on the expander button and have to be inside lubed. I use an RCBS neck brush with a little CLP on it. I do every other case or so. You then have to tumble the cases to clean off the lube.

You can't dip the case into the wax. You rub it on by spinning the case between the thumb and trigger finger. You should lube the inside of the neck, else the expander may pull the shoulder forward and alter headspace, making closing the bolt difficult. I used to use a Q-tip to lube the inside of the neck. Today I use a Lee Collet Neck Die which does not require lube.

...a little goes a LONG way with this stuff. You can't just poke the necks into the can of powder, as it will burp out an air bubble as the powder goes up into the neck. You will end up with a huge mess on your bench :/

I use a tiny spoon to scoop out a smidgen of this stuff and drop it on a cleaning patch. Then I rub each neck lightly on the patch just before I put the case in the shell holder and it neck sizes like a dream

I've been trying to come up with something better, like a small weighted tray with a few brush bristles or something... soon I will cobble together a solution.

Does anyone NOT use it? I do use One Shot for small cases up to 300WM. But, for 50BMG and 510DTC, there is nothing better than Imperial.

I must be retarded, but one shot does not work for me at all. I use only imperial for rifle brass.

Most people use ones shot for pistol, and imperial for rifle.

                        Oh and you're not retarded.

I use Imperial Sizing wax for ALL rifle cases. Since using Imperial, I have never had a stuck case. I can't say the same with Dillon sizing lube or Hornady One-shot or even RCBS and Lyman sizing lube. Imperial Sizing Wax is the BEST!

One Shot works well. Used it for some 30-30 cases awhile back. No issues, no stuck cases. Just let it dry thoroughly before sizing. While the One Shot works, Imperial works better. Sizing becomes effortless.
