Anyone use the stack-on reloading bench?

My current setup is pretty pathetic, a salvaged old wooden cart that is wobbly as all hell and getting worse by the day. So I'm thinking of getting this thing (the one with the drawer and pegboard back):

It looks functional and the 40"W x 20"D size is about right (I am limited to a pretty small space), but $200 + $18 shipping seems awfully pricey, especially when I think about how many rounds I'll have to crank out to break even on it

Still... it's about the best option I've found and I'm wondering if anyone can vouch for the quality and sturdiness.

[I know a lot of people will say to build my own bench from scratch, but I am really not too good at carpentry and don't want to take my chances on a DIY job.]

i got a gorilla bench at orchard supply hardware (Sears owns now partly) and its been a good bench for me....2 drawers-bottom shelf-peg board back-top shelf....120.00 or so reg price....i sealed the particle board top well cause i thought that was a weak point but it has stood up well...fits together not a thousand bolts and nuts....kind of looks like your pic....ck it out....cheers..

i Bought one EXACTLY like that in all respects except it had an extra drawer and a metal top for $109 at home depot. Actually i think it may be a bit longer.... Thats pretty expensive for what it is.

For half that price you could build a real workbench in a couple hours

You can see the bench i bought from home depot in the background here:

Still use it for tools and stuff

That looks awesome! But you have to believe me I am really, embarrassingly bad at woodworking. It's funny because I love the DIY aspect of reloading, but for some reason my brain just cannot grasp carpentry. Even if I had the tools for it (which I don't), I've never been able to design something that is sturdy and level and won't wobble to save my life. So I feel kinda stuck with something that comes from a kit.

Its actually absurdly easy. I can give you the plans, home depot will cut the wood for you. Then you just take it home and assemble it. Probably use the same tools to assemble either bench. Ive been down the road you were on and bought several different "workbenches" until i finally decided to build a legit one.

So glad i did, the sturdiness of it alone is worth the effort i put into building it.

i agree with the others here...don't buy that bench, build your own.

I use a black & decker workmate that i bolted a double stacked pine top to and that works great. it was small, compact, and very sturdy. served me well when I used to live in an apartment but now that i am in a house i plan on building a full size workbench.

If you have a Home Depot in your area, they will cut all the wood to the exact measurements you want for free. All you have to do is put the pieces together when you get home. I'm sure Lowes and other hardwood stores do the same.....

Need to shop around a bit more.
In your price range you could get:

On sale right now for $153, free store pick up.

                  $188, 5'

I actually got the 8' version of the above when it was on sale for around $250

Keep in mind you will have to assemble any of these, including the one you first posted. Mine was a big beast, I got it done in 3 hours. I'm happy with it, it's strong, looks clean and lots of room.

You talking about building one that's going to buckle up on you in a couple months?

Im on my phone so I cant see your location, but there might be a calgunner near you willing to help out building a bench. Im thinking of building one soon, as I'm just starting to get into reloading. If you're anywhere near me I would be glad to help.

Home Depot sells these cabinets for $95 each.

You can buy 1 or 2 or 3 or however many you want and just screw them to the wall. Home Depot also sells laminated counter tops. Instant bench.
With a ton of built in storage.

                      Here's mine.

Here's what it looked like before I started.

Harbor Freight and Costco both have really sturdy benches for good prices if you have either of those in your area. And like was said before, post up where you are located, I'm sure there are guys on here that will help you build one.

Have one set up at my apartment. Not very sturdy per say. It is rigid but the weight is not there, so unless you mount it to the ground or wall it can tip when sizing large caliber rifle rounds. Other than that I like it. I mounted a light bar just below the upper tray and it works what I need it for.

Would this make a good reloading bench?

^ Probably, but you should look at one in person before deciding if you want it or not, when it comes to Harbor Freight.

I picked up everything to build mine this morning for about $35, including sealer, since ti will go in the garage.
