San Diego Source for Berdan primers?

I am thinking of torturing myself by figuring out how to load Berdan primered 7.5 Swiss because it is such beautiful brass. Graf's carries Berdan primers but paying $27.50 for HAZMAT shipping to buy $60 worth of primers seems steep. I have a couple hundred rounds of GP-11 but that is drying up fast as a source.

On the other hand Prvi brass is $60 per 100 and uses boxer primers.

What would you do?

Good luck in them finding in a local store. Find someone to share the HAZMAT fee with.

If I had a load of the 7.5 Berdan primed brass I would learn to load it.

If not, I'd bite the bullet and buy the new Prvi brass.

You're in Poway. Lots of us reloader types in the area. Maybe a group buy of powder & primers to defray the hazmat?

I think it is worth it to save the brass. I found some Berdan Tula 7.62x39 primers at the Del Mar show, got them for some Yugo brass that I have and I was curious if they fit GP11, they do but the cups are a little short and you can seat them a little deep if you are not careful.

Since then I have been wanting to get the Tula KV-762N primers that fit the GP11 cases. There has been a group buy in Riverside County and Powder Valley has been to busy to respond (almost 2 months now) and when they did they did not want to give any group price break. I want 2 or 3k so if you find some let me know.

Why not call your local store? They probably order enough to avoid hazmat. Ask them to quote you, and if you like the price, special order.

You'll have to wait till they are placing their next powder and primer order in, but you are a patient guy, right?

I have some of the PRVI brass from Grafs. I haven't had any issues with that brass. I do have a bunch of GP11 brass as well and have been trying to find berdan primers in SD for the last year and a half. I pretty much gave up on finding any. My friend Justin did buy a box from Grafs but he hasn't tried to load anything with them yet.

If you do want to order some from Grafs let me know. I get dealer pricing from them and am willing to split the hazmat fee.

Try the conversion to boxer process where you swell the pocket with a large ball bearing. Just google it. Anything is worth a try once.

Have you tried La mesa collectibles in el cajon ? if they dont have it theyll order them for ya just a thought im not a reloader so im not sure what berden primers are but they are my go to stop for everything .

I want a couple k too, but am in NOCal and didn't like the hazmat fee either. Hoping to find them somewhere nearby, but no luck yet. I have 1k of once-fired GP11 too nice to scrap.

Buy one box of berdan primers and several boxes of boxer primers to water down the hazmat fee.
