Broken Lyman T-Mag - Lyman no help

Gah! I broke the shoulder bolt on my Lyman T-Mag Turret press (the one the screwdriver is touching)

I called Lyman this morning to get a replacement bolt and they are no longer supporting this press.

Does anyone have any suggestions? (First person to say "Dillon" gets to buy me one)

Start looking around in various market places on web boards and see if you can find a used one to canibalize from. Or buy a new press. (brand of your choice )

I would find out the size and thread pitch of the bolt in question and seek a replacement from a hardware store. It shouldn't be that hard to find.

It's not that simple. It's a "shoulder bolt", with a appx. 3/4 inch dia shoulder before you get down to the threaded area. I suppose I could machine a spacer, but I'd rather not.

Well, this is a shot in the dark, but if it is a standard shoulder bolt, you might find a replacement here:

Somehow I doubt they would use a COTS fastener, but there is always a chance.

Post the dimensions of the part; somebody that's good with spacial relationships will be able to help you.

Check on e bay for a used press to use for parts.

The other answer is RCBS----They will always take care of you. Always has been free also.
For those that say lee----Good luck their warr is very poor and if they do anything for you it will cost you.
I also have had good luck with Hornady---At least their dies.
Dillon---to be honest I have gotten less trouble from RCBS for broken parts.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

$250 for the modern equivalent of my press through Lyman.

I'm feeling pretty "blue" about the whole thing.

Hmm...looks like Lyman's no longer in the turret press market. Take that broken bolt to a hardware store and see if you can find one. Someone somewhere's gotta make those. As others have suggested, maybe there's one on eBay.

Alternately, if it proves impractical to get another bolt, consider a Lee Classic Turret Press. Not the "regular" one, I mean the Classic one w/ the cast iron body. They're less than $100, i. e. not Dillon prices.

They're in the turret press business, but their new press "T-Mag II" is what replaced mine.

I'm thinking about using this as an excuse reason to get a 650XL
