For what, plinking ammo? The cheapest stuff that'll cycle your firearm(s).

Had some real good result with the Federal Auto-Match and Winchester Dynapoint.

Plinking, but my question should have been about QC & reliability
Whose ammo causes the most malfunctions?

Best I have used were cci mini mags and sidewinders. Cycles my p22 just fine.
I had lots of problems with American Eagle 22's and remington.

I've had FTF with Federal and remington. Never with CCI or winchester.

CCI Blazer is about the best i've found that is pretty reliable and also relatively accurate. I have several bricks on standby. Federal bulk packs (i've not tried AutoMatch) have never given me consistent results.

I tend to stick with CCI for my .22
Never had any issues with them - now Remmington is another story...

                    +1 on Remington.

Never had any trouble out of CCI or Federal Bulk.

Any of the "bulk" packs will always be a crap shoot. One box of "bulk" will have 2% failures and the next box of same brand will have 10% or more failures.

Fed Value Pack is some of the best for bulk. It cycles in all of my 22's (5 of them) perfectly. I had an advantage arms conversion kit for a glock 26 that didn't like anything federal, but that was the only exception.

hmm, recently out of 8 50 round boxes of remington golden dot
i had about 8-10 failures (2 of the shells detonated on second try)

Worst IMO is CCI Blazer, then Federal.

Depends on what will work in your gun best. My P22 is finicky and LOVES the Remy Golden Bullets. My 10/22's will eat almost anything and I like to use Winchester there.

The Automatch is great stuff for the price. I bought a few bricks of that to have on hand as the prices seem to keep climbing...

I have a partial brick with 450 rounds of Thunderbolts you can have. They leaded the barrel of my P22 in 50 rounds. There was lead slag sticking out the muzzle like foil stuck on a pan. Never had a problem with them in my 10/22's but never again....
