Its finally dried up ??? Dealers doesn't even have an ETA back in stock. Even the non-surplus modern manufacturer 5.45 are running low, but are still being replenished. Haven't seen any surplus being replenished.

Anyone see any at gun shows?

This was the great fear, when it came into the country at $149/1200 rounds - that once it was GONE, you'd never find it AGAIN at those prices. That's the main reason I never got on that bandwagon.

The OTHER was, that I was an AK & SKS owner back in the early '90's, when cheap, NON-corrosive, Norinco 7.62x39 ammo flooded the country, and made owning an AK variant affordable. Even if Polytech Legends had doubled or tripled in price since the import ban of '89, $49/1,000 rounds made buying one a BARGAIN to shoot!

Then KLIN - TON I put the kybosh on Norinco in early '94 (he made it UP to them, with the ICBM-technology-for-campaign-contributions scandal ), and all we had was S&B ammo, OUTRAGEOUSLY priced at $2.99/box o' 20!!! Remember - this was a 300% increase in price over what we were USED to! NOT coincidentally, AR-15 ownership really took off about this time.

SOMETHING will come in and fill the market void, if the demand is there - even as it did in the 7.62x39 market 20 years ago. Just DON'T expect to see it done for $.12/round again.

They're waiting on the boat to come from the Old Country; most of the vendors will probably sit on it pending the election.

And that is why I reload. I have no such concerns. For those of you who don't, you might want to think about it. You really think AB 962 won't come back again?

Y'know it isn't going to be worth much, right? After all, ammo is hard to find.

Are you close to a Ammo Bros. location? They've had surplus 5.45 for quite a while. It wasn't "AIM Surplus" cheap but it's there.

Nicer than mine then. I sold off my Tantal and kept the WASR2. Great fun to shoot but when the 3 tins I have left are gone it's buying commercial new 5.45 -- just like 7.62

Still cheap enough to keep and enjoy the rifle.
