    Mystery Press- Who made it

    Hi,

I have a chance to purchase the pictured press but would like to know more about it. Can someone provide any additional information such as:

    Manufacturer/model
    Does it take standard dies
Can be used for rifle reloading

    Any information would be appreciated

    Thanks

is there three stations for dies?

If this is going to be your first press, I would pass and buy something new.

This press has only 1 station. It does use standard sized dies. The only thing I am concerned about is the mechanism for the shell holders.

I am not new to reloading. I currently use an XL650 and RL550 but am looking for a beefy single stage press for making customized loads

Is it practically free? If not why not get a rockchucker? you'll have a helluva time reselling that press.

Offroader its more for swaging I think than reloading. If it helps and you do get it I would purchase it since I am just getting into swaging and need a press of this style. Im sure there not worth to much you can get a new corbin for 400 bucks two times this one in size and biefier....

Get the RCBS Rockchucker - I've even used it to form 30-06 into 7.65 & 8mm Mauser as well as 7.7 Jap. All easy to do with the Rockchuckers mechanical advantage.

Several makers made that style of press -- Dunbar, CH, Texan, hollywood and a host of others.
They often used a type of shellholder that is not readily available today.
It is like a capscrew, with the shell holder part as the "head" and held in with a standard nut about 1/2" diameter.
CH, i think, makes an adapter for this type that uses todays standard button type holders.
It can be a great press, especially if it is reasonably priced.

I would lean toward Hollywood or Dunbar. Did Pressman ever get back to you? I bet he told you to buy it didn't he? Looks like a fantastic press to me. You might be amazed at how these old presses can do a better job than RCBS.
