Squib removal ?

I had a couple of squips shooting a few days ago and the guy at the range removed them by pounding them out from the chamber entrace to the muzzel end and i'm wondering if this is the correct way to do it or dose it matter, Seems like it would go back out the chamber side easaly with out any damage.

I've only had one squib, it was in a Ruger black hawk, so I didn't have much choice other than pushing it back towards the chamber. It worked fine.

I've always used a hardwood dowel from the muzzle to the breach. As long as the rod is non-marring (hardwood, Delrin, etc.) there would be no damage to the crown. In a revolver, this would be the only avenue available.

I've poked one out with a cleaning rod, from the muzzle downward towards the breech..

I try to keep a brass rod with me for removing squibs. Come to think of it, I haven't seen it in a few years. I wonder which range bag it's hiding in. Oh well. Anyway, I drive them out the easiest way possible. But, you always need to remember what you are doing. I've heard of bad things happening when a 50BMG manufacturer had to remove a customer's squibbed API.

I use hardwood dowels, one for .45 and another for 9mm/38.
