    .38 Special shotshell problem.

I ordered a ton of stuff from Midway, and somehow got on the page for the Speer shot capsules so I ordered them. The card that came with them suggested 4.5 gr of Bullseye, and since that's the powder on my table, I gave it a try. With that powder load, I couldn't seat the capsule to the suggested OAL of 1.500", best I could get was 1.607". This makes the end of the capsule just about flush with the front of the cylinder on my Model 10. Is this really important, or just go with it?
Also, does that powder load seem right? I load 158 gr SWCs with 3.0 grs of Bullseye.

    Thanks

A plastic capsule offers almost no resistance going down the barrel, and the "bullet" is light to begin with. Don't worry about the charge weight.... And they'll smell funny, too. But they're fun.

You are good with the combo you listed. My question is when you fill the capsule with the shot, are you able to close the bottom plastic cap? That can possibly cause your OAL to be longer if it's not seated properly on the capsule. You can also adjust more your seating stem but do it on very small increments. Be careful though when you apply a crimp. Apply a light one. Medium or heavy crimp will cut into the capsule. You can also load 3 #1 buckshot for a tripple shot load.

Yes, the shot capsule is fully closed. I did some measuring with a Bic pen, and confirmed that the powder level is the issue.
        Thanks. I'll keep loading this.
