    Scrap brass price ?

What is the going rate at the recyclers for brass cases? I have 53 lbs of 40 S&W brass and am thinking of saleing it for scrap so that I can get brass that I need. I will probably be getting another 100 lbs in the near future from my local pd range. They already have another 5 gal bucket for me to pick up

its worth a lot more selling to reloaders. That much brass can get you a lot of cash. i have sold brass myself. The two places you can list them are www.gunbrokers.com and www.auctionarms.com.

the listing is free. once it sells they charge a very very small price. you really should look into it. not only does this bring cash to your pocket but it keeps the brass in circulation to people who need it.

My wife got I think .64 cents a pound the last time we went to town. She only recycles un-reloadable brass so the good stuff doesn't leave circulation.

That brass is worth to us reloaders, why not post it for sale over here as a whole lot. That way your not selling it 1000pieces at a time.
        Is it 1x fired??

I was only going to sale it for scrap because 40 S&W is so common that it is hard to sell. I'm not going to put in the time and materials to clean it for a marginal profit.

Most of it is once fired, but as I did not shoot this ammo myself, I can not guarentee it as such. It came from a local PD range and they do not shoot reloads.

I've been reloading for a very long time, I even have 40 S&W dies and 2 thousand case that I got before this deal. But no 40 in my invetory at this time. With a lot more brass comeing my way, it just seemed like a good Ideal to help me with funds for brass that i have to purchase.

Blacktail, dont get me wrong, im not saying you are stupid for selling your brass, i was just reminding myself how stupid i was for selling 2000 .223 cases for $1.50 per pound, for a grand total of $40 for the whole 2000!

now that i reload, i feel really stupid for having done that!

I don't think that there is a one of use that hasn't done something like that, that we don't latter regret.

You can get something like 4 or 5 cents per case if you sell it to reloaders.

I'm in the same situation, have about 40+ lbs each of once fired 223 and 45 acp brass that I'm considering off loading but am also not sure about the best way to go about it.

Best thing to do is sell it here. You could easily get $100 per 1k of once fired .223. Not really sure what the going rate for once fired .45 is though.

$100/1k shipped for .223 sounds about right if its processed and single headstamp.
Once fired, mixed headstamp, un-processed .223 you can get for ~$75 shipped.

Btw, does anyone know of a place that will take brass on the SF Peninsula?

You can never know what brass you will use/need. I've been saving 308 & 45 ACP for years. Finally got a 45 pistol & 308 rifle that will shoot them. The way I look at it I'm away ahead now.
