    Nosler 69 cc problems

Posted this over at AR15.com. Am I being to picky?

Just broke into my 2 boxes of 500 ct Nosler CC 69s that I bought from Midway only to find out that they are seconds! These are the 500 ct brown boxes. The 250 ct standard boxes were fine. How do I know they were seconds? Well the overall length varried up to 50 thousandth. Some of the Metaplates looked more like a FMJ and others looked like they had a cavern for a tip.

I called Midway and they said to send them back for a refund or exchange, but I made a stink about shipping being paid again./ They agreed to reimbures me for it.

Over all it is a pain to have to do this, but at least they are takeing care of it. We'll see if the replacements are any better

Unless the boxes said "seconds" on them, they weren't seconds. Nosler would have marked them "factory seconds" if they were.

As far as buying the Nosler 69gr from Midway, was the Midway price cheaper than the nosler.com direct 'special' price of $126.95 per 1K?

I have found the OAL of most "Commodity Grade" HPBT bullets to vary by at least .020", especially from lot to lot. I guess this is what sells Meplat Uniformers and Pointing Up tools. Some even sort by bearing length. On the bright side I have never found a name brand bullet where the weight was off by more than .2gr.

They were 129.95 regular price. No they were not marked seconds, but I have never run into a box of Noslers where the metaplate varied this much.

jandmtv, The 126.95 is not for seconds. they are the same you would buy anywhere. Go to the nosler store and look under specials.

With my dealer pricing and discount from Midway, i calculated that buying the premium nosler 69gr. or the 77 gr from Midway is better than getting the seconds from Nosler pro store.

That's a heck of a discount! Can you get this discount for a C&R FFL also?

When they are in stock, the Nosler seconds are $95.90/1000 at the Pro Shop and Midway lists them as $151.96/1000.

If Midway is discounting firsts to under $95 then I'm interested.

I'm also not feeling sorry for the FFLs who say that they can't compete with mail order prices also.

                    Go to http://www.nosler.com
                    Click on Store.
                    Click on Custom Competition.
                    Click on Specials.

They had these 'specials' up since around Nov/Dec 2006 on all the 22cal and 30cal Custom Competition bullets. Back then, I bought 4K of the 77gr Nosler CC for 99.95 per 1K.

All the bullets are standard factory runs (not factory seconds or otherwise defective).

The 80gr that I showed a picture of I bought from the Nosler Shooter Pro Shop for $8.95 per 100ct bag. There is a post where I talked about the Nosler factory seconds and if you got to the Inland Shooters website that I run on the side, I have a review of them. Note that Nosler readjusted their pricing on those 80gr 2nds a month after they made them available at 8.95 per 100.

Not at the $8.95 per 100 price.

The $126.95 per 1000 is as cheap is it gets and that's for 'firsts' (non-defect). Just wait until those are in stock again.

Or just buy the Hornady 80gr A-Max from Grafs at $70 per 600ct box. I checked the other day and the Grafs C&R price is still $70 per 600 on the Hornady 75 or 80gr A-Max. I bought 3x600ct boxes of the 75gr A-Max for 200 yard standing practice loads, so I wouldn't race through the last 3K of my Nosler 77s (which I use for matches in my short line ammo).
