    .223 bullet sources

It is time for me to purchase some more .223 projectiltes and my source has run dry! I am looking for the best price on some 55gr BT. I typically get them from Golden West Brass, but he sold his machines and will be out of service for several months.

It seems that everywhere else I can find is all pistol rounds or some of the larger rifle rounds.

So, who do you guys recommend for a cheap, 55gr BT plinking projectile?

Montana Gold.. or if you buy in Bulk, you can generally find the Hornady 6000 packs for a pretty good deal..

Wow, thanks! It looks like Montana gold will be hard to beat. That is really good pricing for 3500 bullets.

I thought you wanted cheap plinking projectiles, the prices for Montana Gold are pretty spendy, go pick up milsurp projectiles from HiTech

Hi-Tech Ammunition Ammo offers Reloading Supplies, Reloading Components, Bullets for Reloading, Ammunition Components, Incendiary Bullets, Tracer Ammunition.

        55g, air pulled for $65 per 1k or $190 for 3k

Anyone used the "pulled" 223 from hi-techammo before? Is it ok, any problems using it?

I use these almost exclusively for my plinking ammo, and have probably used upwards of 5000 rounds worth with no issues (I have not resized a single one). Now it is worthy to note, that I have come across maybe 10 projectiles total that have been damaged, but it was very obvious, looks like they were hit with a belt sander, or crushed somehow, although they retained the full metal jacket, they were not damaged through to the core, so I suspect that they had been crushed somehow. ANYHOO, I have not had any issues with them so far.

Also, keep your eye on Top Brass

I get their .308 147g bullets (the pulldowns) for my 300 Blackout, and am very pleased with them as well. They have only 62g .223 projectiles atm, but they have 55g pop in from time to time.

I bought 6k of the pulled projectiles from hi-tech years back when they were $30/k, now wish I'd bought more.. they shoot fine.. can't tell the difference at up to 200 yards on steel plates..

Montana gold spendy compared to pulled bullets but cheap compared to the 100 boxes you'd get from the other top line manufacturers..Hornady, Speer, Sierra, etc.

I don't see how .08/bullet is spendy.. $280/3500 isn't all that bad.. it's more when you buy less ($.125 ea when you buy 1000).
