    .223 reloading

this will be my first time doing this. Should I start off with the lowest starting measure of powder or start in the middle.

I figure I will load about 20 of one weight, then 20 of another weight, but where should I start?

I'm going to load 223 with .224 FMJ and plan on using BLC-2 powder.

Start at the low, then move to middle, then slowly up to max.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Are you just looking for plinking ammo? I don't shoot all that often, and I don't have the means to really properly work up a load for accuracy. I just made ten rounds of low to higher charges in .2 grain increments. Then just shot them...whatever cycled my rifle consistently was good enough for me. My load for BL-C(2) is 26gr under a 55gr FMJBT projectile. Is it the "best" load? Probably not, but for 100 yard and closer plinking it works for me.

what kind of allowance do is there on .223 case length? I resized mine using Lee's sizing gauge and it trims the case to 1.74 is this ok? I looked at the data base on ARF.com and for 55gr bullet they say 1.75. is this enough to make a difference?

At 1.74 u are ok. But I would adjust ur trimmer to 1.75 for the rest of ur brass
