6.5 Creedmoor

I bought a Savage 12 Long Range Tactical in 6.5 Creedmoor several months ago. I now have almost 3k rounds through it. With the Sierra 142 SMK my favorite load was 40.5 grains of RL 17. My favorite load with the Sierra 123 grain SMK was 38.5 grs of Varget. Both of these loads woud shoot into less than 1" on my 300 yard range. Occassionally I would get the 3/4" 5 shot group at 300, but it wasn't the norm. Anyway, here is my question. My 5 shot groups have opened up to 1 3/4" at 300, so I am going to replace the barrel. Has anyone out there replaced their Savage barrel and if so what did you buy? What were the results?

Has anyone out there replaced their Savage barrel and if so what did you buy? What were the results?

I replaced the factory tube with a 28", 1:10 Shilen barrel from Jim Briggs @ Northland Shooters Supply. It was good enough to net a F/TR win at Sac during its first outing.

I'd like to try a Criterion prefit in some kind of 6.5 flavour one of these days.
