How long does this component shortage election crap typically last?

So all you long time reloaders, how long did the last shortage on components last during the last election? When do you expect components (mainly bullets for me at this time) to be readily available again at good prices?

What bullets are you not finding? I load 9, 40, 45, 10mm & 9x25 Dillon, and I have absolutely no problems finding bullets.

It's getting hard for me to find my plinking rounds for .223 and .308 calibers. I can go buy Nosler and other nice bullets from the store all day long. But I mostly plink and go several times a week with the wife so low cost is definately why I started loading versus the other big reason being a high end round for the cost of a cheap factory round. I'm trying to find .223 (55-62gr) bullets for under .10/rd and .308 (150-180gr) for under .15/rd.

There may be shortages in selected items, but I was getting an order ready this morning at the Powder Valley site and was thinking to myself how strange it was that they had ever single thing I wanted in stock. I think it was the first time in years this happened.

I don't load rifle rounds, so I'm no help. The only rifle I have kept is my AK, and it's not worth it to me to reload 7.62x39 when I can buy it for $0.20- 0.$25 per round. If I still had my AR15's & AR10, I'm sure I'd feel your pain. Of course, that's part of the reason I sold them. Good luck man, I hope you find what you're looking for soon.

Thanks...yeah, I can find .223 in the .10-.15/rd range but the under.10/rd delivered are the ones I'm after and are having a hard time finding. Same for my my .308, over .15/rd no problem, but under delivered is hard to find for me. I had found those prices recently but funds were a little tight this past month, so now that I'm about ready to buy again, of course I'm not finding them now. Oh well, there's always .22lr's lol.

Hornady Traditional and FMJ bullets are built with a rugged AMP® bullet jacket (Advanced Manufacturing Process) that clearly delivers better performance. The thin-plated full metal jacket offered by other manufacturers is easily distorted and often breaks or separates when the bullet impacts the target. The Hornady AMP bullet jacket features virtually zero tolerance for concentricity and near-zero wall thickness variation, punching through targets without deforming or breaking. This is one reason I taught myself bullet-casting. Virtually everything I shoot nowadays is made with my own cast "boolits". There are pretty aerodynamic spitzer-style bullets for rifles, too. I'm thinking specifically of the one that C. Ed Harris designed for Lee Precision and often used in the Mosin-Nagant and Arisaka rifles.

If your range allows the use of cast bullets, it's something you might want to consider.

Until after the election. Depending on who wins it could subside quick or it could last into 2013.

If there is something you want, I would be back ordering it so it ships when they have it.

Sometimes until the next election. As far as prices dropping-------That usually does not happen much. Once they raise the price it rarely drops back down to where it started.

'93-'95 primer shortage, rumors that primers were going to have a 3 year shelf life. So everybody bought everything they could find. Same nonsense in '09, but no rumors about the primers going bad. Just buy all they could. Lead and copper prices are driving up bullet prices, but when those drop, bullet prices don't. Looking at a Natchez catalog from '95, 55grn .224 bullets; $41.00 for a thousand.
