depends... not in a vibratory tumbler but will work in a rotary tumbler. Any media would work in a rotary tumbler.
I wouldn't use aluminum oxide or something heavy and dense in a vibratory tumbler. Brass cleaning needs good movement in the bowl. Corn cob is lighter and moves better in the bowl. I like corn cob over walnut for this reason. I used both for years.
I tried plastic blasting media once after seeing a good review on it and it was horrible in my vibratory tumbler. Took more than double the time to polish the brass and didn't put as good a shine on them either.GCC
