Thanks and yeah, it would take a while but free and no shipping. Could make a jig for speed. Still weighing the pros and cons. A site with free shipping would be ideal.

How many pieces of brass does the tumbler hold?

I usually do large batches of cleaning a year (3000-4000 of .45 or 2000 .223, for example [dirty brass goes into a bucket after a range trip, once it's full, it's cleaned]) so I don't clean very often. I know this is not possible with SS media but I guess I wouldn't mind seeing results like yours for slightly less output.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

I put in about 2 lbs of brass, which was roughly 100 30-06. I am positive that if the brass was not so tarnished it would have cleaned up in about 2 hours. Like I said this was the worst brass I had and when I tried walnut hulls on similar brass it never removed the corrosion even after 8+ hours. I am impressed with everything so far. The brass was even clean on the inside which a vibratory tumbler never cleans.

When i run my tumbler I have it setup on a timer to run in the middle of the night for 3 hours , I use as hot a water as comes out of the tap along with the dishsoap and lemishine and it sits and soaks for 4-5 hours before it starts.

Depends on your tumbler I'm building my own. Almost done now I should be able to do over a 1000 .223 rounds at a time.

If you want the shine to last a little longer, let them soak in some hot water and a dash of lemi-shine for about 10 minutes before setting them out to dry. The shine will last months if not longer if they are stored in ziplock bags too.

Just wait until you do up some pistol brass. then you can really see how clean the inside gets.

What are you using for your drum? 6 inch PVC?

There are a few good writeups on the interweb about DIY tumblers. Some are built for coffee cans, others are bigger. I modified a zip tie holder to work on my HF dual tumbler.

Ya I'm starting with 6 inch PVC but I'm hoping get my hands on some 8 or 10 inch. I cut some 1 & 1/2 inch & bolted it inside.

^^ Looks great. I'm using the same 6" drain pipe but I can't find the end cap or 6x4 reducer. I've checked every Lowes, Home Depot and Orchard in my area.

If you have the end cap and reducer can you tell me the specifics (manufacturer, product number, etc.)?

                            Couldn't you use a 5 gallon bucket?

I dont have them yet, I'm going to go get them sometime next week. There's a plumbing supply store close to me that has 6 & 8 inch fittings. I dont think I'm going to use a 6x4 reducer, probably going to go with a cleanout adapter & plug instead.
