    There on the way

New lee pro1000 complete kit in 45ACP, 9mm die set and turret, ABCs of reloading manual - 9th edition

cant decide on a scale ? Balance beam or electroic. witch one should it be.
Also would the lymans 49th Edition reloading book be sufficiant for my needs on powder table info ?

I decided on this Lee press after a great deal of consideration of reading threads here and recomendations from you all that i should start with a single stage But dont want to go that route How i will initionaly set it up i will be able to prosses 1 shell at a time and change it later to make full use " AFTER" i learn how to produce consistant. ammo on it. I'm in no hurry at all.
I think i will be quite happy with this set up as i wont be reloading a great deal of ammo so i shouldnt ware it out in any forseeable future, [ getting into my sienor years ]

    This should be fun

    Congrats on your purchase!

How are you going to make the Pro 1000 a SS? Unlike the Auto Turret presses, when you pull the lever, the brass rotates to the next station, where as in the Turret, the opposite happens...The dies on top rotate to the next station.
Some guys like their powder like their women, hot, cheap, dirty, that would be TiteGroup. -CocoBolo

I hope you also bought the carrier for 9mm...and small case feeder.

Oh, get another pro auto disk so you can leave them set up for each caliber.

Get a beam scale. They don't require batteries. Rcbs and Dillon make nice models. I use the RCBS 5-0-2 and have no problems with it.

Get the adjustable charge bar for the Pro Auto Disk.
There's a coupon for the digital caliper from Harbor Freight on sale for 9.99.

Remember that when you have your dies set up perfectly for a single piece of brass...the settings all go to pot when you have all 4 pieces of brass.

The lyman book is really good. It will do you well. "I" think it is a better book than the ABC's especially when just starting out.
Keep all your reciepts for anything lee as you will need them for warr stuff sometimes. No need to save RCBS/Dillon/Hornady.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Awesome, grats on the new press!

I also ordered my first reloading press today. Went with the RCBS Pro 2000 auto, but that lee pro1000 complete kit looks pretty awesome.

Maybe I should have considered something like that and saved a few bucks since I am only starting out with 1 caliber right now.

lyman book is great. If you could cancel that abc's of reloading. Its only $2 on amazon kindle which I read on my comp and cell phone.

                  "There on the way"

Did you buy the ABC's of spelling?

                  They're on the way

I hope the Lee works well for you. I tried to get my grandfather's Lee to run right, but I finally got frustrated and gave up. I am too used to using a Dillon.

The Lee Adjustable Charge Bar has never worked for me and I don't think it works for anyone at less than 1.2cc.
The fixed cavities of the Auto-Disk will get you to your "ideal" load, or close enough to make no difference.
Most people go out and fire 5-10 shots at various powder charge weights and find results like this:
                    x gn = 2.4", x + 0.2 gn =3.5", x + 0.4 gn =2.5", x + 0.6 gn = 1.7", x + 0.8gn = 3.5", x + 0.8 gn = 2.8", and decide that x + 0.6gn is their perfect load.
However, if they fired 5-10 5-shot groups at each charge weight, they would find that the averages would be much the same and that magic charge weight was simply chance.
I am amazed how many people have gone up 0.1 gn and only fired one or two 5-shot groups and actually believe that their gun can tell the difference between 5.0gn, 5.1gn, and 5.2gn, because their data shows that 5.1gn produce avg. groups that were 0.5" smaller.
                    Sorry about that.
I gave up on beam balances back in the late '70s when Ainsworth came out with an "affordable" digital. Guess what my answer is?
You need LOTS of manuals. Today, you have the powder manufacturer's data on the 'net. Still, I will always buy the latest Lyman and Hornady or Speer manuals.
The biggest problem with the Pro 1000 is only having 3 stations. 5 is nearly ideal. With 3 stations, you must combine case expansion and powder charging in one stations and bullet seating and crimping in one station.
Be sure to read instructions very carefully to understand how to set-up the seating die to seat and crimp in one step and be sure to cover how to determine the COL that is best for your gun(s).
