Any differences between an 80's dillon 550 and a newer version ?

If it is a 550B then there is propably no appreciable difference. If it is a plain 550 then there will be some differences. I'm pretty sure the powder measures from the 80's will be the spring loaded return ones not the rod actuated return ones they use now....I like the older spring ones myself. But pre-B models will not have the bracket to hold the primer safety return bar or the powder return bar. Don't think they had the low primer alarm either or the actuating rod that hits it. I think those are the main missing components. -
It doesn't matter, it's covered for life with Dillon's warranty and it can be upgraded to whatever changes that were made. ie... if a older powder measure broke, then Dillon usually will upgrade to the newer one anyway.

Neah...I wanted to but he sold it already. Not a bad price but the 2 hour drive each way....

To be honest I am debating between the 550/650 and the lnl..... I use a Turret now ( not a bad machine ! )

This actually was a really good deal. Even if you drove an SUV down there, still worth it. I would've enjoyed the drive there with the top down today.
Now looking at the picture, he does have the older style primer pickup tubes, powder measures, but no biggie. Would've been a fine working press as is.
Now the 3-4 conversion kits, 3 powder dies, 3 tool heads, the roller handle, the 2 powder measures...those alone would've been worth half of his selling price.Some guys like their powder like their women, hot, cheap, dirty, that would be TiteGroup. -CocoBoloComment
