If you are both competent hand loaders and you customize a round specifically for each rifle AND are both equally proficient shooters, it'd be quite the show. Of course most guys would give the advantage to SKS, but I'm not so sure. IMO it depends on the individual rifles.

If each individual hand loader is each separately hand loading for their own rifle, then I'd give the advantage to the better hand loader, not the better rifle.

Bullets = Wideners or grafs. Buy Prvi in bulk.
Oops, looks like those are Hornady, $93/500

Just make sure that you get the rounds that do not require a special primer punch if you are going to reload. Something about corrosive rounds also but I can't remember what a had once heard. (good thing I dont reload tham)

Shoot them both off of a front rest with a rear bag, targets at 50 and 100yds. I would think the SKS would be more accurate by virtue of being a milled receiver.

Also look for Boxer/brass MFS ammo. I caught a bunch of it on sale a while back from one of the online shops. Something like 35 cents/round. Boxer/brass/reloadable. Doubleplusgood.

If you've just *gotta* pony up for American-made ammo, then at least Winchester's bulk pack from Wal-Mart is pretty good.

If you can find this stuff good on ya. I bought a few hunnert when they were on sale at Cabela's a few years ago. My searches lately have turned up nada. I believe there was a lawsuit involving that ammo but I've shot a few boxes with no excitement ensuing.

I've also read that the MFS Boxer brass ammo has .308 projectiles which is fine by me since I own an early Mini-30.

Extreme bullets makes 123gn .310 FMJ's for pretty cheap. I believe Field Time in Westminster has them in stock.

I think the SKS will win.

I once participated in a C&R postal match...50 yards on a bench with iron sights. My gun was a Yugo M59 SKS. I came in 2nd place and I think my 5 shot group was inside a 50 cent piece.

I use Winchester ammo that I bought at Big 5, so nothing special.

Where to find brass? I initially bought a couple of 100 IMI off Gunbroker. Then I bought 100 Prvi Partizen from Grafs. The rest of my estimated >5000 pieces came from the range I shoot at over the last 2-1/2 years.

For bullets I bought 3000 Winchester 123gr in bulk off Gunbroker. For powder I've been using 24 gr IMR 4198.

Yep, it was Cabela's. Thanks for the reminder. Basically, I bought the ammo for the brass, which will get my cast boolits once I run out of Wolf.
