Anyone here shoot this round? Thinking about having a rifle of mine done in 6.5-06. Seems to me if there is a 6.5-06, then there is not much need for a 25-06 or a 270win

you might have better luck with a .260 remington or a 6.5 Creedmore, unless you like forming your own brass.www.culinagrips.com

Great round! 6.5-284 on a long action is another good option.
But, the flip side is, if you have a 270, there's not much need for a 6.5-06 or a 6.5-284.Originally posted by tonyt22Im going to be heading on a road trip out to lake tahoe and was wondering if i hit a deer driving at night and it doesnt die can i shoot it or leave it on the road till it dies then drag it to the side ?Comment

A local gentleman that I know often shoots 6.5-06 Benchrest and Varmint rifles. I almost bought one a few years ago after I saw how well it shot. The brass is easy to form and bullets are easy to get as well. No reason not to get one in my opinion.Comment

I would think that a 6.5-06 would be slightly overbore, woulnd't it? Look at the .25-06 - yes it works, but it's a vicious round that is really intense, paticualrly the obnoxious muzzle blast. But whatever floats a person's boat, I guess. I just have a hard time understanding why all these wildcats are so popular.Comment

People like wildcats because they are different. Or they do something that a factory round doesn't do.Comment

I think a 6.5-06 more versatile than either 25-06 or .270. Better long range cartridge, a real nice selection of bullets to choose from.
Also a big fan of the 280"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."
