    soft point vs fmj (wolf)

    building an oll looking for some ammo to break it in
    what is the main difference between the soft point and fmj?

    also what about silver bear ammo?
    and with the steel case ammo will bay area ranges allow me to shoot it?

      Not sure. I am actually looking into buying a case of the Silver Bear myself and am wondering the same thing if ranges will allow them.

          Soft point will retain it's mass and go through material better.

          FMJ will fragment (assuming it's moving fast enough) and do more tissue damage. It should also be more accurate than the soft point.

          This is of course only a comparison between these two.

          Steel cased ammo shouldn't effect it's use at a range.. it's a question of whether or not a magnet attracts to the bullet.

                This is assuming the fmj is like m193, with a thin jacket. Wolf uses a thicker jacket which does not lend itself to fragmentation.
