well---I know they are about the same but not quit the same as win231 vs hp38. I'd hate to be loading for long distance and have two different batches of ammo when i'm trying to dial in a perfect recipe.

I agree with this up to a point. However, I ask because Sportsman’s Warehouse claims to have H4895 in stock, and somewhat on sale. So, if the you are is willing to use H4895, you can try them.

Just a FYI, Accurate 2495 is currently made at the same General Dynamics powder plant in Ontario, Canada as IMR 4895 and the other IMR stick powders. Accurate 2495 used to be sourced from the Czech Republic as Accurate 4064 was. I still have about 8#'s of the Czech 4064. It is good powder. I bought a new Canada made pound of the Accurate 4064 to try it out, but haven't got to it yet.

If you can't find the IMR 4895, you should try the Accurate 2495. It might be easier to find.

Even if you find IMR 4895, every lot still may need a slight "tweak" +/- 1-2 tenth grain from your last load...You're still going to have different batches when dialing that "perfect recipe."

At least it should be pretty close. Accurate Arms AA2520 used to be ridiculous with their lot-to-lot variation. At least they've been pretty consistent the last 5-6 years.

While they aren't the same, in .308 it really is a distinction without much of a difference.

What caliber are you loading for, and what distance are yo shooting?
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

.308----Just got a new bench gun. Never been a bench shooter--have several rifles I shoot at 100, mostly a pistol person. that said--I sighted it in Friday at 100 yards. Next trip is to see what I can do at 2 and 300.

IMR 4895 paired with 168 SMK’s are my go to for 308 with less than 1 moa at 100 yards all day long until I ran out and couldnt find it and I had to try IMR 4064 and low and behold suddenly it made me manifest I was a better shooter than before.

Or maybe its just the rifle HaHaHa …
