    Testing accuracy

    Hey guys,
Ive been reloading for a short time now. About 5k .40 built and another 2k of 9mm. Now that I am comfortable with the process I want to start checking my loads for accuracy.
I am getting into USPSA (got better than last my last 3 events!!HA) and am reloading for accuracy potential, recoil control and cost.

For .40 I have been using a 155gr SWC and 180gr Plated HP. Both seem fairly accurate in my glock 35 with KKM barrel.

Now to the question, how do you determine accuracy? When I hear about "2 inch groups...etc" how are you shooting/testing? Free standing? On a rest? I am a pretty accurate shooter and have a good grip and technique but I know I can always be better. What if I am having a bad day...is it me or the ammo...how do you eliminate those factors?

And finally opinions...in the .40 what has been your most accurate bullet. I am using powerpistol powder in a moderate hot load (near max but NEVER over).
On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

Most USPSA pistol targets are within 15 yards so nearly any load is accurate enough. Most people load to a minimum PF instead of just accuracy. For pistol I only test for velocity and if the gun cycles, but thats just me.

I really like 200gr FP zero jacketed bullets.

This is the best way to test a particular load for accuracy.

Accuracy has NOTHING to do with group size. Group size is a way to measure precision. If you are just worried about accuracy, make sure the center of your group is also your POA. It's that simple.
