Load data for FMJ vs. JHP

I got some 180 grain .40 FMJ from the gun show this weekend. I've checked load data from Lyman, Lee, and Unique. None of them have data for 180 grain FMJ with Unique powder, but they all have data for 180 grain JHP.

Is it safe to use the JHP load for FMJ? If not, where else should I look for data?

It's fine to use that data. Just start toward the low end.

      I agree.

Correction: They are TMJ bullets, not FMJ. Does that make any difference either?

As long as they're jacketed any jacketed data will be fine to use. Lead and plated usually take a different amount, but a jacketed bullet the same weight as another will shoot about the same velocity. Not enough to be worried about anything.
