Harbor Freight caliper

I stopped by Harbor Freight this morning and picked up a new caliper.
I've been using a digital for years but was tired of dead batteries so I wanted to upgrade. Usually I don't like HF for tools that I plan on keeping for years but these calipers are actually pretty nice.

The dial is large and easily readable. You can zero them very quickly. The price was $20 in case some of you guys don't have one yet or like me got tired of having to replace batteries.

I plan on picking up some Dillon ones as well the next time I put an order in through them. But for now these will do fine.

I might have to get one too... I have HF digital calipers right now and I had to use last night and guess what, dead battries haha.

I have the HF digital one that looks like the Dillon one. Had it for years and I just went to the Dollar Tree to buy a new battery for it. $1.00 for a package of 4.

I also have a Stainless Steel dial caliper that I purchased from Midway over 20 years ago that works great and still looks new.

Sorry here's a closer pic. Inches. But I noticed they did sell some metric calipers there. Not this one specific but some others.

FWIW on the harbor freight digital calipers you have to remove the battery after using it. It doesn't really turn off, it just turns off the screen, so that's why it eats batteries.

I might have had to change to my reserve battery after years of using the original that way, I can't remember.

They don't last long if you don't.

I actually got a micrometer set there because it's more accurate(supposedly-who knows with china freight!) and I really like it. It calibrates to the block anyhow.

I too went to dial calipers awhile back. Got tired of the flashing LCD measurements.

Darn, I was just at Harbor freight today for something else. My battery hasn't died in my digital caliper yet, but I'm sure it will soon.
