Any love for the S&W 500 Magnum?

Ran some home cast reloads 350-360 grain semi-wadcutters over 38.5 grains of 4227 and large rifle primers.

The 500 in the Handi Rifle is brutal, but man is it fun! I'm on the low end of my reloads. If you are into single shot 12 gauge and 45-70 I' d get the shotgun and a Chaszel 45-70 adapter.

I had a Handi Rifle years ago in .223. Consistently misfired. Still, there’s something cool about a single shot rifle. I’ve been watching for the cheap ATI Turkish single shot 12 gauge to pop up locally. It would be a DROS add-on.
Mine had that problem too. Problem for me was the arm that's part of the trigger group that holds the transfer bar/striker was too short allowing the bar to drop just enough so it gave light strikes due to the shape of the rear of firing pin. I lengthed that arm by peening it.

      This little guy.

I made a wildcat for mine. Brass was fire formed from 9.3x74r, it has about the same case capacity as a 458 win mag .

COL was something like 3.4, I can't remember it's been a little while.

I gotta say, I really admire you guys that have the mind to figure out these problems and know just where to touch up parts.

No joke, ever hear a bullet out of a carbine length 500 hit steel...it is a bit scary unlike 9mm or .45.

I've tried it out of a S&W revolver, 8" or so barrel. This was at an indoor range. The concussion from the blast was remarkable. However, for what it is, I was surprised by how uncomfortable it *wasn't* to shoot.

Out of a rifle, that seems like it'd be big bear medicine. But I'd want a repeating rifle for hunting those, like Big Horn Armory's levergun.

I agree completely, for hunting or self defense in the woods a repeater is better. The single shots can be learned to shoot a little faster than what is usually demonstrated on youtube and such. The shells are large enough that they make quick work of swapping them out. A repeater would be perfect though.
