7.62 Nato M80 Ball

I have been loading some ammo to NATO M80 Ball Specs for a while piecemeal, well this weekend I went and loaded up 300. It is actually probably more accurate than issue M-80 as I weighted every charge on my Lyman DPS, and the bullets were sorted when I got them by full grain weight.

Once I started loading em I decided to paint up an ammo can to match, using my initials and the date started as the Lot code.





All in all it was actually alot of work, but still cheaper than I could have bought it.

You might consider that if you spent the $$$ on 168-175-178 gr HPBT match bullets, you're still $$ ahead compared to factory ammo prices, and your time is even better spent.

So nice to grunt when you pick up an ammo can, eh?

I have some Nato M-852 Match cases, and have actually worked up a 168Gr load, but ran out of bullets lol.

If it makes you feel better, the only difference between regular USGI/Lake City cases and M118LR cases is that the latter don't have a primer crimp, and unlike surplus LC 762 brass they have pretty certainly never been fired through an M240 (which is pretty tough on brass).

If you choose to buy more match bullets, skip the 168 SMK's and go for the 175 SMK's or 178 A-Max. For that matter, the 155 SMK Palmas are ballistically superior to the 168's. The only reason Sierra still makes them is that people keep buying them. Not that shooters/reloaders are conservative or anything.

While I agree that the 175 is a superior bullet, some barrels don't like the 155 Palmas. If you have a factory chambered Remington, you will never get the 155 close enough to the lands. They seem to do better in 1/10 twist barrels. My M1a really likes both.
I wouldn't skip the 168 though, the Sierra 2200 is still the bullet by which all others are judged. If a rifle won't group with a 168, its cursed...
