    Chubby Hi-Tek Bullets

During the Pandemic I purchased some 45acp and 9mm Hi-Tek coated from Brazos. I recently loaded the 45's without issue. Now I'm loading some of the 125gn RN.

I made the mistake of not checking them in the chambers of my guns. These damn things are "chubby". I loaded them at 1.125 thinking they would be the same as many other 124gn I've loaded in the past which have been flawless in all of them. My XD Tactical started having issues not going in to full battery with the bullet jammed in to the rifling. They ran fine in my Shield although I suspect they were jammed in the rifling slightly. Luckily I did as usual and only loaded a few to chrono.

Checking chambers on my PC Carbine, Shield and XD I found I hit the lands at 1.075 on the XD, 1.085 on the PC Carbine and 1.115 on the Shield. They were loaded .010 longer than the Shield chamber but functioned fine, lol.

I never tried the in the Carbine because I didn't take it out when I tested them. My initial load was 4.2 gn of W231 at 1.125 which gave me 1,076fps. I revised my load to 3.8 gn of W231 at 1.060 and got 1,056.

I rechecked with some Xtreme 124gn plated and I'm at 1.200 to the lands on average. They all work fine now. Get lazy, learn a lesson I guess.

Brazo were my favorite 9mm pills. I also bought 9mm from them during the pandemic, and didn't load them until a few years later. I was around 3.9 of w231 and they worked great in my Glock 19g5 and my CZ.

When I went to buy more, they had moved and eventually closed all together. I used them for all my 9, 38 and 45. Those 180 gr 45 pills were great, still have 5k left.
