Over the years I have acquired a lot of loaded ammunition for calibers I do not own. I don’t know what the law is now in California about sales of ammo between individuals. For example I have about six boxes of 7mm Remington Magnum. Can I legally advertise and try to sell as is or must I pull the bullets and sell it as brass? Would I have to deprime?

Ammo Sales?

Is it factory made ammunition? If so no issues with selling it (up to 500 rounds a month). If it is reloads or ammo of unknown provenance,
then selling 'for components only' and or pull it down yourself so as to be sure it goes that way, for safety of the buyers. Know your buyers I guess.
The factory ammo will have to go through an authorized ammo vendor with the capacity to do the required instant background check of the buyer. -
You can sell 500 rounds a month.
No limit on selling components.
Sales of loaded ammo have to go through an FFL so they can do a background check on the buyer. They can charge whatever they want for this so shop around
Or you can sell directly to a person that holds an 03 FFL and COE. They are exempt from the background check.Last edited by G-forceJunkie; 10-09-2024, 12:16 AM.Comment
