For rifle brass, I started off using Lee gear. Ball cut trimmer and loaded each piece of brass in the drill bit lock stud. Also used the Lee chamfer and debur tool. Worked GREAT....but took forever. For smaller volumes, no issues. But from a time perspective, any saving on rifle brass prep is a good thing.
Was a toss up between going down the WFT or Possum Hollow trimmers/adapters. WFT is about 2x, but very well built and all in one. PH needed a drill bit adapter, but the two pieces are a good, tight fit.
I got the WFT for .223 to try out. Made a world of in terms of time (not a big difference in quality) over using Lee's ball trimmer and locking each piece of brass in the drill.
The shavings from WFT are more like curls of brass, but they still fly everywhere, so WFT recommends a face shield. I'm not a fan of that.
I decided to try Possum Hollow trimmers for another caliber. The shavings are much finer like brass dust, but it gets EVERYWHERE.
So to maximize my comfort (no face shield), convenience and keeping the trimmings from flying all over, for each of them I went to a local plastics shop and had a "cover" made just long enough to mount on the drill and cover the openings where brass shavings would fly out and potentially into my eyes. Works great and now no more face shield needed.
Initially I tried plastic tubes, but the plastic broke too easily. I could have used pill containers, but the orange/yellow tinting was annoying and prefer the stronger and clear acrylic instead.
The Possum Hollow combo is about 1/2 as much as the WFT. WFT is better quality build though. Both work fine and now the shavings are all more neatly managed.
