    Winchester 244 powder

Does anyone have any experience use 244?
It appears to be slower than 231, but faster than WSF, but the copper fouling reducetion chemistry, like some other Hodgedon powder.

I have been using WW231/BP-38 for decades, loading 45acp, 38 special, and 9mm.
But Considering that powder will be much scarcer than normal, post pandemic, I am looking for solid alternatives.

      Scarce? Or scary?

FWIW, Titegroup and WST (among others) both work well for the calibers mentioned.

I got a scorching deal on a jug of 244 a while ago and I've been trying to use it for pistol and it's terrible. It's worse than 231. Too slow, too dirty, too stinky. So I use it to make reduced rifle loads in 308 and 30-06.

I have had very good luck with it on midrange 44SP, SD's less than 10. It works fine in 38 and low power 9mm

              I agree with BeFrank.
I have been using it for about a month now and started at the low-end load of 2.5, the high load is a mere 2.8, so a very limited range for 148gr LHBWC in .38 caliber.
Wasn't as clean as I'd like, so bump the load up to 2.8 and adjusted my crimp to a slightly heavier one.
Burns cleaner be a smidge than 231, way cleaner than Bullseye and pleasant to shoot.
              YMMV

I have a jug arriving tomorrow although it’s marketed as “similar” to win 244. I plan on ladder testing it in 9mm and 45. As soon as I get to testing I’ll post what’s worked for me and in what platforms
