Am thinking about loading some .452 300 grn lead cast bullets with gas checks for an AR in 450 Bushmaster. Anyone else done this before?

With gas check bullets costing about as much as jacketed, why? Unless you're pouring your own.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator. -
I use 230gr FMJRN meant for the 45ACP for plinking loads in 450 Bushmaster.sigpic

Gas checks protect the base of the bullet and will solve for lead buildup in muzzle brakes but they will not stop lead from getting into the gas system.
Keep a watch on your bolt tail for leading buildup.
The lead that scrapes off the side of the bullet while passing the gas port will sit on the edge of the gas port and then be re-distributed down the gas tube and into the carrier where it builds up on the bolt tail from the gas of the next shot.
Clean off that buildup after each range session and you should be fine.Randall Rausch
