    Quick Change Die Bushings

I have a Lee Classic Cast press I'm going to start using for loading rifle rounds.

Has anyone used either of these?:
Lee Breech Lock Quick Change Bushings
    or
Lee Breech Lock Quick Change Bushings with Die Lock Ring Eliminator

I know a lot of people are not Lee fans but would like input from
people who have used the bushings.
I'd like to have a consistant setting on each die without having to go through
resetting a die each time I use it.
The time savings would be worth the extra money if they work.
    Thanks

They work extremely well, I wasn't expecting much except some savings from reloading and I didn't want to mess with resetting dies each time. I have tuned loads for each of my firearms to be more accurate than ever before and the dies are super quick to swap out and ready to go.

      Which do you use?

Lee Breech Lock Quick Change Bushings
      or
Lee Breech Lock Quick Change Bushings with Die Lock Ring Eliminator
Is the lock ring a newer version or an I missing the concept?

I use Hornady lock rings on all my dies. Don't have to buy bushing conversions and don't have to reset my dies every time.

The regular breech lock, they didn't have the lock ring eliminator when I got mine. Not sure what benefit that really provides, mine haven't come loose with the o-ring in the lock nut. Once you get them set where you want, you simply push the release on the press and the die pops right in and out adjusted and ready to go. I feel like it simplifies the process, making set up quicker and more accurate.

Now that I read more I don't think I can use either of the
Breech Lock Quick Change Bushings with my more heavy duty
cassic cast press. It looks like the challenger press uses the breech lock system.
I guess I'll look into lock rings now. -g

If you have the standard classic cast, I believe you can get a hornady lock n load conversion kit to use Hornady's quick change system with your dies.

I was considering putting the LNL kit on my classic cast, but dont mind the 10 seconds it takes to swap dies, as long as I don't have to reset them each time.

I've got Lee, Redding, and Lyman dies and they all have Hornady lock rings. They have wrench flats and tighten the whole way around the die, not just using a nut that screws into and damages your die threads.

I use the Hornady bushing system too. Works very well.

I am not a big fan of the Lee o-ring lock nuts.

                      I like using lock rings.

Hornaday split rings won't mar the threads of your dies, but are larger physically than say RCBS and Redding with their set screw design, so the Hornaday units may not work well on some progressives where space is tight.

The Lee Breech Lock bushing setup requires a Lee Breech Lock press.

The lock ring/bushing combo Lee offers is totally redundant as once you have the die locked into the Lee Breech Lock bushing you have no need to remove it, so the lock ring is not needed.

I buy the quick change bushings from Lee every time I buy new dies. They work great and save a lot of time. Well worth the $.

                          Yep.

An inconvenience is the likely inability to use the factory die storage case once the bushing is in place, but this is a small price to pay.

They will fit in the rectangular red boxes with the clear lid, but yeah they don't fit in the round stand-up style cases.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

I have a Breech Lock Challenger that I use for .30-06, .38 Super, .400 Corbon and a few other calibers. Works great and no resetting dies for each use.
