Im looking for a good, hard bullet for penetration, but seem to only find a softer 12-16 brinnel.

Im looking for 10mm and 44 magnum.

Any experience?

16 is plenty hard for those calibers. If you need to drive them hard then use gas checks. When lead gets too hard it tends to sheer off thus negatively affecting penetration.

I buy all my 10mm Hard Cast from Bear Tooth Bullets. They have a huge selection of true Hard Cast bullets for most calibers. The only one they make for 10mm, is the 200gr WFNGC, which just happens to be the perfect choice for heavy 10mm loads IMHO. If I remember correctly, the hardness is around 20-22BHN.

Bear Tooth Bullets aren't cheap, so if you're looking for plinking/target bullets, look into other options. If you're looking for hunting bullets, look no further. What will you be using them for?

I've been happy with Missouri Bullet. I use their brinell 18 .357, .44 and 45-70. They are reasonably priced and shipping is fast.
For 240gr 44 mag, about 1/2 the price of beartooth.

For pressures like full-house .44M or 10mm, really, BHN 12 turns out to be perfect. They do not need to be "hard cast". I typically run BHN 12 in my 30,000 PSI .45 Colt load; same for my .357M near-full-house load.

meathead and socal I will try both.
I use a 44 mag for backwoods 'feel good hipwear". Going out with my brother who has a 10mm Glock so while I have the dies for 10mm I want a great round for scary critters, never seen one just walking out but ya never know.
