Which powder is best for .223 ?

Can anyone tell me what powder is best for reloading .223. How many rounds could I get from 1 LB of powder.

55 gr. hoser ammo, 748, long range 77 gr. Tac or XBR8208, closest to the Black Hills 5.56 262 loads.
Do not like Varget, due to metering issues and compression to get the FPS to match my scope BDC.

i use varget because varget isn't weather sensitive like other powders.

IMR 8208 XBR <-- temperature proof short grain easy to meter
Reloader 15 <-- moderately easy to meter medium grain
Varget <-- slightly annoying to meter medium large grain
AA 2460 <-- spherical ball meter proof

All with consistent weights will not be the limiting factor in accuracy. I shoot 8208 exclusively because I don't want more variables than there already are.

7000/26.= 269 rounds

Varget and Benchmark. I use benchmark for 55gn 223 as it's much shorter extruded powder so easier to meter and flow through the 223 case neck.

All depends on the rifle and what bullets you are using. Varget, TAC, H335, R15 etc etc

7000gr per 1lb powder.

with 55gr bullets I have tried Varget, H335 and BL-C(2).
Of the three the best for me thus far has been BL-C(2)

I have a pound of TAC to try but the BL-C(2) was good enough to justify buying an 8lb jug of it.

I have been having very good luck with Alliant Pro-Varmint under 55gr bullets. I like it better than H355. Varget worked well but metered like pooh.
