help reloading 10mm 180gr hardcast

Not a great deal of loading data around for lead in 10mm.
The book range for loading 180gr jacketed with Blue Dot is 10.4gr to 11.0gr. IIRC, that is with a mOAL of 1.250".
Over on Glock Talk Forums there are dedicated 10mm reloading threads with all kinds of load data. There is at least one guy over there that has loaded 180gr Lasercast with BD. As I recall, he used 11.0gr and had a bunch of chrony data on it. That was out of a 6" KKM barrel, so I surely wouldn't start at that load with a stock barrel. Also, I would keep an eye on leading until you are sure things are going along fine.
Good luck, have fun. When asked what qualities he most valued in his generals, Napoleon said, "give me lucky ones." -
thanks, forgot to add i have a kkm barrel.Comment

I'd go with Blue Dot, and start at 9.0gr. The sweet spot for 180gr lead seems to be around 10.5-10.6gr (1150'ish fps through a stock length barrel). If your gun will feed them, load out to 1.26" OAL, if not try 1.25". As far as crimp goes, I crimp to .419-.420 for lead/moly/plated. For woods carry, I load 200gr WFNGC's with Longshot & 800X, but Blue Dot is another great powder for that bullet.
Like Bill said, check out the 10mm reloading forum on GT. There's quite a bit of data for Laser Cast 180's, along with everything under the sun for 10mm.Comment

my reload book says
180 gr Jacketed HP, OAL 1.250"
Powder-- start gr-- velocity-- pressure C.U.P.
unique -----5.8 -----1018 -------21,800
blue dot---- 8.1 ------939 -------18,000
max load for unique is 6.7 grains
max load for blue dot is 10.3 grains
I load 165 gr JHP, with 6.6 gr of W231, and a light crimp with no problemsLast edited by dbbspider; 04-24-2012, 10:29 PM.Comment

Aliant lists 11.0gr as max for BD with 180gr GD JHP on their website. I can vouch for this kind of loading having shot this exact load out of my stock 20 barreled Glock, no Glock smiles or even bulges.my reload book says

Different book have different loads. Im not even going to think of questioning Aliant
Lyman book (the one that I have)
for Blue Dot
Max load grains 10.3
Velocity 1133
Pressure c.u.p. 30,000
I use W231 for my 10mm so the above doesnt affect me. Be safeComment
