Hello all. Has anyone here who uses Win 231 for their .45 ACP reloads gone with more than 5.5 grains behind a 230 gr round nose bullet? If so, how much did you use and what velocities did you get? Thank you.

Win 231 powder question

Jacketed or lead?
My standard WW231/230FMJ load is 5.6gr which gives me around 820/830fps out of any of my 5" 1911s. Back in the day, I experimented with 5.9gr, but that seemed to be getting a little hot. 5.6gr gives me same POI as factory hardball.sigpic

Awesome. Thanks for the input. I use Rainier 230 gr copper plated hollow points with WLP primers and 5.3 gr Win 231. According to Winchester's reloading manual, 5.3 gr is the max load but I was only getting around 820 fps and a published internal pressure of 16,900 which is still on the low end for the .45 ACP round. I'll try 5.6 gr and see what happens. Just wanted to see if anyone has tried it
Thank you again!
