Moving to CA...what reloading limitations do I have

I am military moving to CA and I reload all my ammo. Is there a state limitation of how much powder or primers I can store at my residence. Or even how much Ammo I can have at home?

Isn't it 20 pounds of smokeless and 1 pound of black powder?

ok seems like just the standard fire code in most states. No other weird laws. Isn't the max primer count according to fire code 10,000

I thought these limitations where for apartments.

            No such luck.

            And yes - I believe it's 10K primers.

You should also be aware that tracer rounds are illegal, and armor piercing handgun ammunition. Armor piercing rifle ammunition is legal. (Keep in mind for handguns armor = body armor and for rifles armor = steel side of a vehicle or whatever. It was part of the anti "cop killer" bullet craze.)

For powder you want to read through 12101 and 12102 - note that there's a lot of stuff about permits in there which you probably don't have. The key bit goes "This chapter does not apply to any possession or use of 20
pounds or less of smokeless powder, or one pound or less of black
sporting powder, provided that:" you're not selling it commercially and other various things.

The primer thing is in the fire code NFPA 495 and most places have a law saying you have to conform to that. If you believe it doesn't apply to you, consult an attorney before going nuts, but it's a good rule of thumb anyway.

Just employ the reloading version of the 3 S's...

Some of us who shoot black powder shoots competitively buy black powder by the case - buying one pound of black at a time would kill you financially as the hazmat would cost more than the powder does, and would only be good for about 100 rounds for an average 45-70...
