    RCBS Chargemaster and Temperature Requirements

I was reading the instruction manual for my RCBS Chargemaster 1500 scale and dispenser and it says the unit should not be stored in cold or freezing temps as that can damage the load cell. It also says it should be used at room temperatures. Since my garage gets as cold as 40 degrees if really cold outside or as high as 90 during the summer, does this mean I really am confined to reloading inside the house (room temp)? I mean who has room temperatures in the garage or reloading shop outside a main house?

It should be fine. Just store it in a cabinet.

I do all my reloading in the garage and temperature may range from 50 to 80 degrees depending on the time of year. I usually will not reload if it's outside of my comfort zone (65-80 degrees) and have had no problems with my Chargemaster scale. It has been consistent when the charges are checked with the RCBS 10-10 beam scale.

I don't think it would damage it unless it freezes, for storage

as far as usage temps a load cell measures the amount of current that flows through it, as you put weight on it it changes the current. The current can also be affected by temperature. The question is "will the same weight show the same at 2 different temps, say 60F and 90F"
I will share my opinion and my load data, BUT I am just a guy with too many cigars and too many guns. Whatever I say is probably wrong.

I wouldn't worry about it. The only inconvenience is temperature changes causes the scale need to be recalibrated if you have the heater or a/c on. The charge master is worth it's weight and gold and glad I have it

I leave mine in the garage plugged in 24/7 and it's been fine.

I also leave mine out on the bench. No problems so far.
