    Ammo prices up and down

2008, Obama got elected, a case of 1000rds PMC was around $329 then shot up to $450 even $489 at gunshows

Just a few months ago this same stuff was 289$

I think if everyone waits prices will drop again.

Current prices at palmetto is 350$ before shipping
340$ at weapons world before shipping

maybe a suggestion, dont buy ammo for a while, shoot what you have but save some so maybe just maybe these shops will have more in their warehouses and lower prices or maybe they will just fall again after elections?

I was also ready to order a Springfield M1A from buds, while waiting for a new store to send their FFL to buds, the next day Obama got elected
the price went from 1328$ to 1500$.

In december 1,400,000 plus guns were sold in that month alone, every month before that for 19 months also set a record. all those new guns require new ammo. supply and demand.. simple.

Not as simple as you may think but it does play a part,

I think new gun owners dont buy a case or two of 1000 rds right when they get a new gun, they probably buy a couple of boxes at big5 walmart or the shop they bought their gun from or the shooting range.

As for people who own guns already, some or a majority have "stock piles" of ammo.

My reason of this post is that the prices go up of ammo and guns when election nears especially when Obama was elected because many thought he would have a major impact on guns and ammo. I think people who are either new into shooting tend to help keep or drive up prices.

Also you get a lots of mention of "ammo prices going up" from vendors stores and such because they take advantage of your fear. Its happened already before you joined calguns.

I have experience because I joined months before the election and saw it with my eyes.
In 2006 when I bought my M&P pistol, a box of American Eagle .40 S&W was 8$ a box online, that same ammo now is about 16-17$
Prices do go up mainly but there are times when it also comes back down.

Other country mfg ammo ive seen currently is about 14.5$ a box.

I think it will go back down after the election and after the economy stabilizes. Remember, it's not just politics that affect it, also precious metal prices.

Metal prices have caused ammo prices to go up in the last year. All of the major component suppliers bumped prices by 10 - 20% last April or May to account for cost increases for lead, copper, mercury and zinc. Prices slid back a little, but that increase accounts for some of this years prices, too.

When gold and silver go up, so do the other metals. It isn't really so much that these metals have gained value, but that our dollar has lost value. Same reason for increases in the cost of oil.

                Another example

Cheaper than Dirt catalogs, March and April both had this ammo
Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more

It was listed at 139.99$ but their website kept listing it as 149.99 then 159.99
                Now its $189.89

I even emailed them about the price in March, the catalog said 139.99$ but they site was 159.99
