    Differences between dies...

So I have a Dillon 550b, and I got some good cash money gift certificates fro Sportsmans Warehouse today I plan to finish off my die collection for what I need.

I am curious, what are the differences between Lee, RCBS and Dillon dies? All three are different price point, Lee being the lowest and Dillon the highest. Are the Dillon dies that much better? Are they worth $16 more than RCBS and even more for Lee? Help me understand why I would spend $58 on the Dillon's

I think Dillon dies have a larger chamfer where the case enters the die so that they should work better in progressive presses, particularly if it fails to rotate fully into alignment. For progressive use you might also have issues with the powder throw interface and linkage between brands. If you are buying rifle dies for a single stage press, I have a preference for Redding.

If you've got a Blue Press handy it's got a break down on their dies and how they're better. I think the Dillon pistol dies have a gas vent for seating or something like that.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

Dillon dies have the larger chamfer for progressive reloading.
They have seperate seat and crimp dies.
They have removable chambers that let you clean out lead/lube without having to re-adjust the die position.
They have spring loaded de-priming pins that positively spit a crimped primer off the decapping pin rather than drawing it back into the case.

If you load on a Dillon press and don't own any Dillon dies, you really owe it to yourself to get a set to understand why they are the best pistol dies you can get for progressive reloading.

You won't be sorry! I just wish Dillon had a better selection (.25acp, .32acp, 7.5 Nagant(i can dream) etc.)
