    Hornady Critical Defense

Is it just me or does this ammo seem to be sold out everywhere I go to? Even online?! There are a few suppliers online selling for $19-$21 + $12-$15 for shipping. Rediculous lol. I really wanted to use Cabelas $2 shipping!!

what caliber are you looking for?
I will share my opinion and my load data, BUT I am just a guy with too many cigars and too many guns. Whatever I say is probably wrong.

Why spend $20-$30 for 25rds of Craptical Defects, when you can get 50rds of better ammo for the same price?

The Federal HST, Winchester Ranger T, and Speer Gold Dot are superior to the gimmicky round that Hornady is producing in the CD line.

        Check out the facts here:

$9.95 flat rate shipping. You presumably won't buy just one box for a carry pistol, right?

Thanks very much for the link! I did very minimal research but it seemed that every CCWer I've encountered swears by the stuff (like they've used it). I haven't really gotten the chance to buy, but wanted to make my first box worth it cause the costs of SD rounds. 1 box to test, 1 box to carry. Eventually I will try out other brands, but really can only go by hearsay cause who shoots ballistic gel through a chrono every range trip? My rant lol

Like most ammo you've got to test it to see if ur gun will eat it. Most guns will no issue thats why you hear lots of good ravings about them. Then there will always be that small group that has issues with the ammo and bashes it. They cant just say hey, my gun hates hornady cd but you can try it if you like. Instead they get the bashers that says this ammo sucks dont buy it. There's a good reason why hornady has been in the shooting business this long. They just cant get over the fact to just move on and try a diff brand ammo.

Most lgs will carry hornady defense. Why? Becus the ammo just sells its self. Other good ammo ie win ranger/ fed hst is harder for lgs to get so online buying is the ticket there.

If you want ammo with lots of energy then Buffalo Bore is pretty lively stuff. Just don't try to run it through a Glock in 40 S&W

I use Critical Defense in my .45 with a mix of Gold Dots. The Hornady's are great to keep stuffing down during the winter months and really load well in the 1911's. I get mine local...$21 a box of 20

Winchester Range Ammo- yea I know it doesn't have a cool name like "Critical Defense" but it has been serving LEO's for years and I know it runs flawlessly in Glocks, Sigs, and 1911's
