    Will these brass clean up?

My friend showed me some of his brass stash yesterday.
Holy smokes he had a bunch but water got into the container.

So my question to the experts here is, can these brass be saved?

Some look heavily tarnished. Clean them up and report back.

I'd pick out the worst. The corrosion may compromise their integrity. Stainless steel media tumbling would probably clean most up just fine.

It would be worth to tumble with stainless steel media. Im sure you will find some wont clean up. (I've had some 30-30 that was pretty bad like that as well) About 90% cleaned looking brand new and the rest you could see the corosion was way to bad and just discard or save for the scrap yard.

I would pick out the cases with heavy blue corrosion before you start tumbling them and process them separately. Otherwise, you'll have to scrutinize every case later for weak spots.

I'd throw the most corroded ones in a stainless steel media tumbler by themselves just to see the outcome.

Actually, someone just did this a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of brass that looks just like in these pictures. Several cases looked "fugly" corroded. His cleaning method is the wet stainless steel tumbling method. I have some of that brass. It looks totally like new money, as if it'd never been fired. Yes, that clean.

I am now *thoroughly* convinced that the stainless steel cleaning medium is *the* way to go. You just can't argue with the results.

Stainless media system is so small scale and takes too long.
